TYPE 2 (NON-INSULIN-DEPENDENT DIABETIC MELLITUS )
Type 2 diabetes is most common, it’s also a lifestyle disease. Usually seen in middle-aged people, the majority of people having diabetes is type 2 because of their lifestyle and lack of exercise, Is much more common than type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes occurs due to your body’s cells resisting the normal effect of insulin so the response of insulin diminished called insulin resistance.

It occurs at the time of pregnancy, when your body can’t make enough insulin during your pregnancy leads to high blood glucose levels that can affect your pregnancy and at delivery. They and their children are also at increased risk of type 2 diabetes in future.

Benefits of Ayurvedic Treatment for Diabetes
According to Ayurveda, it is can be correlated as PRAMEHA, The term Prameha is derived from the word ‘Pra’ meaning abundant, and ‘Meha’ meaning ‘passing of large quantities of Urine. According to Acharya Charaka,
- Consumption of Etiological factors is responsible for the initiation of the disease process.

- The aggravated Doshas then vitiate (disturb) the Dooshya like Meda (Fat), Asrk (Blood), Sukra (Seman), Ambu(Body fluid), Vasa (Oil part of flesh), Lasika( Lymph), Majja(Bone marrow), Rasa(Digestive juice, plasma), Ojas(Essence of all the tissue ), Pishta (Flesh).
- The vitiation of Dooshya further leads to the obstruction of Srothas (channels) in the body.
- The obstruction of Srothas ultimately causes the manifestation of the 20 different types of Prameha.
According to Acharya Charaka,
20 types of Prameha based on dosha
- Kaphaja Prameha – 10
- Pittaja Prameha – 6
- Vataja Prameha – 4
According to Ayurveda, prameha chikitsa classified into 2
- The patient is obese and strong(Sthula prameha)
- The patient is emaciated and weak (Karshya prameha)
On the basis treatment prescribed, Patient is obese and strong give Shodhana Chikitsa (Elimination therapy) and Patient is emaciated and weak give Rasayana Chikitsa (Nourishing therapy)
In these two conditions,
- Snehanam (Oleation therapy)
- Sodhanam(Purification therapy)
After this treatment, Santarpana Chikitsa is to be done. Because Apatarpana Chikitsa (Fasting) leads to
- Chronic respiratory disease
- Cystic Tumor
- Chronic urinary tract disorder
- Urine retention
Santarpana Chikitsa only basis of digestive power (Agni Bala)

Samana chiktsa \ internal medication
